A camera system that records everything and identifies nobody is the most common thing we are called in to replace. It happens because systems get sold on megapixels and installed by eye, when the number that decides whether footage is usable is pixel density at the target — how many pixels land across a metre of the actual scene.
IEC 62676-4 defines four levels of what a camera can deliver, measured in pixels across a metre of the scene. It is the only spec that predicts whether an image will stand up.

The same discipline applies to storage, where a retention figure is a calculation rather than a preference, and to access control, where the credential technology decides whether the system stops anyone at all.
It is a deliberate limit. The design work, the equipment and the service expectations are different, and a company doing both tends to do one of them properly.
Local knowledge matters more than it sounds. A bayfront site in Hamilton, a trailer yard in Brampton and a rural-edge perimeter in Halton Hills are three different design problems, and the equipment that suits one fails on another.
No. We design and install for commercial, industrial and construction sites only. The equipment, the design process and the service expectations differ enough that doing both well is difficult, so we do not try.

Often, yes. If the cameras are ONVIF conformant and positioned sensibly, the usual fix is the recorder, the network and the configuration rather than a full replacement. We audit before we propose.
Yes. Every proposal sets out camera positions with the pixel density each will deliver, the storage calculation behind the retention figure, and the PoE budget. If a proposal does not show you those three things, it has not been designed.
